Bad setting of view angles during demo playback Intermission and finale sequences in recorded DEMs often fail to playback as intended, instead of showing the intermission or finale section from the original angle, an entirely different angle is used. A good example is to record a demo on END. On playback the camera will usually not point anywhere near Shub during the finale sequence. Reported by the Quake Done Quick Team |

V_CSHIFT 0 0 0 0 bug Using this command to reset the palette to remove changes caused by earlier demos or maps sometimes fails. Reported by the Quake Done Quick Team |
all Quake executables | not yet workaround: Setting it to some other value first before resetting to 0 0 0 0 is a satisfactory workaround. |
Ambiguity in end of CD message in demos The CD message at the start of a Quake DEM can be terminated by any number of whitespace characters. Since the start of the following block proceeds with its size, in some cases this size may also be read incorrectly as white space. Single-player demos recorded on the id START map and Hipnotic's HIP1M3 fail to play back before tweaking as a result of this problem. For a good summary of the bug, see Uwe Girlich's DEM specs. Reported by the Quake Done Quick Team |
all Quake executables | not yet workaround: An easy-in-practice fix is provided by the "-n" command-line switch of the Demtool utility. |
PAKked demos require a disconnect Reported by the Quake Done Quick Team |
all Quake executables | not yet reason: If DEMs within a PAK file do not terminate with a disconnect message, Quake will run on and try to interpret the rest of the PAK as a demo too, normally with fatal results. Of course Quake should notice that it has gone outside the bounds of the PAKked file, but it doesn't. |
Can't playback multilevel demos Reported by the Quake Done Quick Team |
all Quake executables | not yet reason: The "reconnect" message recorded in a DEM when starting a second level prevents playback of such multilevel demos. workaround: All is well when the message is removed from the demos. |
Missing FOV in GLQuake | GLQuake since first release (?) | fixed in the released sourcecode |
"Cache_Alloc: allready allocated" Happens when playing many demos that use many models, but in fact it could also occur in normal play. Reported by the Quake Done Quick Team |
all Quake executables | fixed in the released sourcecode reason: problem in the cache handling of models and sprites. Here's the solution for the Quake code (not QuakeC) by Zoid An easy workaround by QdQ and their Demtool utility is available for download |
Missing V_CSHIFT in GLQuake | GLQuake | reason: when gl_polyblend is 0 you will not see any palette shift, use gl_polyblend 1 instead. Reported by Philip "Kryten" Martin |
